Steve Doszpot - Campaign Launch

Doszpot hoping for No 1 hit with poll song

Chief Minister Garry Humphries, and Brindabella candidate Steve Doszpot listen intently to Stephen Pike as he sings his own composition "Song for Steve" with Leisa Keen on the Piano.

As reported in the Canberra Times, Steve Doszpot is the first - and perhaps only - ACT candidate to have had his election campaign launched in song. The tireless Coralie Wood cajoled Stephen Pike into putting his creative talents to work to compose "Song for Steve" - to the tune of Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger". The well known Canberra entertainer / composer sang his own composition at both the Media Launch and the Campaign Dinner.

"Song for Steve"

Steve Doszpot / Escaped from Budapest on a sleigh long ago, They had to walk through the snow, Stayed in Yugoslavia In refugee camps for many months then Dad said no, Off to Australia we go,

Settled in Leichhardt that's where he grew up, Played lots of soccer to win that prized cup, Then as a salesman Steve he came to Canberra, Now he's your candidate for Brindabella.

Steve Doszpot / He's President of Soccer Canberra and that's not all, He directed Olympic Football, Back to Hungary Steven has been, To see the Freedom that country has seen,

And now he lives here a happier fella, And he's your candidate for Brindabella, Steve Doszpot / He won't try to fool you with political tricks, People before politics,

Steve Doszpot / Stands up for family and the region he knows, His dedication shows, Yes it Shows
